Lucie Wedgwood Surgery

Appointments

To make an appointment please telephone or call in at the surgery. The receptionist will try to give you an appointment with your doctor of choice. Appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.

If your problem is medically urgent please telephone at 08:00 for an on the day appointment. We will always try and see you on the same day but it may not be with your doctor of choice.

Please note we occasionally use locum doctors to cover holiday periods.

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Extended hours

The practice also offers extended hours from 7:30am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. On Friday from 7:00 am.

Please note pre bookable appointments can only be made for no more than 2 weeks in advance and for appointments no later than 5:00pm. Appointments after 5:00pm need to made on the day.

You can now see a GP or other healthcare professional during:

– weekday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:00pm

– Saturdays and Sundays

To book an appointment call the surgery or book online. You may be able to get an appointment on the same day if required.

You may be offered an appointment at:

– another local GP practice

– another local NHS service – such as a General Practice Hub

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
